2010 Nationals Kick off in Gisborne

The 2010 Nationals kicked off today at Makarori Beach, Gisborne, in super fun 2-3ft waves.  The mens open was run throughout the day, and the standout surfers progressing through to the quarter finals included Billy Stairmand (Raglan), Morehu Roberts (Gisborne) and Richard Christie (Mahia).

Gisborne's Johnny Hicks was eliminated from the mens open division, but still has a chance to take out the under 18's.

Gisborne's James Fowell surfed well but was eliminated in a tough round 3 heat.
